Class of 1972 Scholars
October 20, 2012
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am pleased to announce our Scholar Selection Committee's choices for the four Class of 1972 Scholars.
By way of background: last month I appointed a Class of 1972 Scholar Selection Committee with the following members: Fritz Cammerzell, Bill deGolian, Kip Forbes, Marty Franks, Dotty Jannarone Kemper, Bob Murley, Priscilla Wohlforth Stumm, and Ron Brown (Scholarship Chair).
In 2007 our Executive Committee expanded the Class of '72 Scholars to one in each undergraduate class. We ask the Financial Aid Office to nominate students using the following criteria: academic 1s; participant in a major sport; alternating men and women (i.e., female 2013; male 2014; female 2015; male 2016); geographic diversity; racial/ethnic diversity; and if possible, first member of a family to attend college. This last is always hard, since Financial Aid usually doesn't know.
Our new '72 Scholar is:
MICHAEL SKELLY '16. Michael is from Waterford Work, NJ. At Hammonton High School he was class salutatorian. He plans to play on Princeton's varsity sprint football team and to pursue a career as a lawyer.
Continuing as '72 Scholars are:
OLIVIA A. SAYVETZ '15. Olivia is from Vashon, WA. She is a coxswain for Princeton's Women's Varsity Open Weight Crew Team. Last spring she was selected for the US Rowing Women's National Team Freshman Camp. Olivia is concentrating in public policy and government and works as a social media and marketing intern with Protagonist LLC in New York City.
CONNER CLEGG '14. Conner graduated from Chagrin Falls (OH) High School. He currently serves as the President of Cannon Club. Until an injury last year Connor was a defensive lineman on Princeton's varsity football team, and is a politics major.
You also have a financial report on the investment performance of our endowed scholarship fund and the amount to be distributed to the four Class of 1972 Scholars for FY2013.
All the best,
Bob Wright, President
