New Class of 1972 Scholars
In September, 2008, President Bill deGolian appointed a Class of 1972 Scholar Selection Committee with the following members:
Fritz Cammerzell, Marty Franks, Dottie Kemper, Bob Murley, Priscilla Wohlforth Stumm, and Ron Brown ( Scholarship Chair)
This year the Executive Committee decided to expand the Class of '72 Scholars to one in each undergraduate class. We asked the Financial Aid Office to nominate students using the following criteria: academic 1s; participant in a major sport; alternating men and women (i.e., male 2010; female 2011; male 2012); geographic diversity; and if possible, first member of a family to attend college. This last is always hard, since Financial Aid usually doesn't know.
Megan Brandeland '09 of Prior Lake, Minnesotawill continue to receive the same grant from our class as last year, and the balance will be awarded in equal shares to the other three Class of '72 Scholars. There is $47,829 from our endowed scholarship fund to beawarded inFY09.
The committee reviewed a list of nine nominees provided by the Financial Aid Office and selected the following three students as new Class of 1972 Scholars for the 2008-2009 academic year:
