Our 48th Reunion Cancelled

In partnership with our public health officials and alumni leaders, we have made the difficult decision that #PrincetonReunions will not take place as planned this May due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Until our next gathering, we remain united as Tigers – with “one accord,” even from all corners of the globe. Thank you for your understanding and tireless support as alumni.

Dear Members of the Class of 1972 Executive Committee,

First and foremost, I hope that all of you, your families and loved ones are well and safe, and that you stay well. These are certainly unprecedented times for all of us.

As you are aware, Reunions will not be taking place this May as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I am still planning to convene our Spring Meeting of the Executive Committee virtually on Saturday, May 30, 2020, as we have much to discuss as a Class, and I would like to suggest that we conduct mini-Reunions of the Class of 1972 virtually, either on Friday evening, May 29, or Saturday morning/afternoon to mark our 48th Reunion. I am asking you, as members of the Executive Committee, to volunteer to "host" a mini-Reunion virtually in your home area, so that we can cover the major geographical areas in which our classmates reside and have as many members of the Class participate as possible. I have been using Skype and Zoom these past weeks to conduct meetings and find that both systems work well -- good reception and great to see a face when someone is talking.

If you are interested in hosting such a virtual meeting, please let me know by return email and I will be back in touch with you with further details. I believe that this will be fun and a great way to connect our Class under the circumstances.

Fritz, Robby and I also discussed plans for an in-person Reunion in the fall, assuming things are back to normal. More later, but we are thinking of the weekend of October 16/17, which is the Brown football weekend and homecoming this year (both Harvard and Yale are away games again). Mark the dates on your calendar for now, and we will keep you advised as plans evolve.

Finally, many of you received an email from Ruby Huttner regarding our "grandchild" Class of 2022. All of the undergraduates are at home taking classes online, and we think that this is a great time to be in contact with them and to help them through what has to be a disappointment not to be on campus for the spring of their sophomore year. You may remember that classes were also canceled for a period of time during the spring of our sophomore year, but for a different reason. I encourage you to be in contact with your "grandchild" who lives in your city or town or nearby. If you have not been paired with a member of the Class of 2022, then please contact Ruby at pugrand22@gmail.com and he will be pleased to put you in touch with a member of the Class of 2022.

Stay well and I look forward to seeing you soon … virtually.

    Best regards.
