Annual Update 2023-2024
September 28, 2023: Nobel Prize winner Maria Ressa ’86’s How to Stand Up to a Dictator, The Fight for Our Future, a Pre-read selection discussed by members of Classes ’72, ‘95 and ‘22. Ruby Huttner’s assistance was much appreciated for grandchildren class involvement.
November 9, 2023: Keith Richburg, Professor in residence in the Journalism Department gave an insightful talk about Free Speech and Press Freedom in the New Hong Kong. Arranged by Mike Schneider due to the connection with Maria Ressa and the world she depicted. Keith is a member of the Washington Post Editorial Board and a Post Globe Opinions columnist.
Princeton Diversity Discussions, organized and hosted monthly by Jenny Korn '96, are available to all alumni.
Princeton Reunions extensive DEI events distributed Class-wide.
2024-25
Discussions with Rod Plummer produced significant ideas. He introduced a relevant book by William Bowen and Derek Bok, The Shape of the River, Long Term Consequences of Considering Race in College and University Admissions, published in 1998.
Plans for implementation include Preston Holmes showing the movie Till with discussions before and after and inviting Eddie Glaude to speak to classmates and grandchildren classes.
